MEH Advisory Founder and CEO will serve as Student Engagement Lead, supporting HBCU awareness, college access and student opportunity across New York City
NEW YORK, September 17, 2026 — Shelton J. Haynes, Founder and CEO of MEH Advisory LLC, has joined the Board of Directors of HBCU Access New York, where he will serve as Student Engagement Lead.
HBCU Access New York works to expand awareness, access and opportunities for New York City students interested in attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Through college application support, campus tours, mentorship, workshops and scholarship guidance, the organization helps students and families see HBCUs as attainable pathways to academic achievement, professional advancement and lifelong community.
As Student Engagement Lead, Haynes will support efforts to strengthen connections with students, families, schools, alumni and community partners. His service will focus on helping young people gain meaningful exposure to HBCU opportunities while ensuring that students receive encouragement, information and access to resources throughout the college preparation process.

A Personal Commitment to HBCU Opportunity
Haynes is a proud graduate of Hampton University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. His HBCU experience helped shape his approach to leadership, service and community responsibility.
Throughout more than 20 years of public service and over 15 years of executive leadership, Haynes has remained committed to developing people and building institutions that create lasting opportunity. He has mentored professionals, elevated emerging leaders and supported programs focused on youth development, education and community engagement.
During his prior public sector leadership, Haynes oversaw the renovation of an approximately 8,000 square foot youth center and the creation of a New York State approved youth program serving children between the ages of 7 and 18. The program provided academic enrichment, recreation, arts, wellness activities and structured support for young people with a range of needs and abilities.
That commitment now continues through his board service with HBCU Access New York.
“Students need more than information,” Haynes said. “They need access to people who believe in them, exposure to institutions where they can thrive and a network that will remain invested in their success. This role gives me another opportunity to help build that bridge.”
